The village of Indian Head Park was developed in 1959 on the site of two (2) golf courses. It is located 18 miles southwest of the Loop. The population has expanded by more than 600 percent since 1970. The village is quite small, encompassing only two square miles.

Indian Head Park has a mix of single family homes, town houses, and high rise condominiums. A small section of Indian Head Park is zoned for commercial use.

The single family home market is small and upscale. Homes range in price from $220,000 to $600,000+. The range of housing styles includes ranches, contemporaries, and two-stories. Fences are prohibited in the village.

There are a large number of condominiums and town houses available in the village, going as high as $370,000.

The village uses Lake Michigan water, and has wells for reserve.

Most elementary students attend school in District 106, but a few attend in District 107. Accelerated classes in mathematics and reading begin in the second grade. High school students attend the two campuses of Lyons Township High School District 204, in Western Springs and La Grange.

The Chicago commute, via the Burlington Northern railroad, takes 20 to 30 minutes from the Western Springs station. The RTA provides a shuttle bus from the town to the station during the rush hours. The village is bordered by the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) and the Tn-State Tollway (I-294). Driving time to t Loop is between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on traffic. O’Hare Airport is 16 miles north of Indian Head Park.
